CRAN welcomes around twenty new doctoral students each year from Lorraine's education programs, other French universities, or foreign universities.
CRAN's doctoral students are enrolled in the doctoral school "Computer Science, Automation, Electronics - Electrical Engineering, Mathematics - IAEM, No. 77" or the doctoral school "Biology, Health, Environment - BioSE, No. 266"

80% of doctoral students are enrolled in IAEM doctoral school and 20% in BioSE doctoral school.
The doctoral students have completed their master's degrees (predominantly ISC, IS, MSV, and PERCCOM masters) at the University of Lorraine and come from thirty-three different nationalities.
The IAEM doctoral school is directed by Didier Maquin, professor at CRAN, and the responsibility for the "Automation" Mention Commission of IAEM doctoral school is held by Eric Levrat, also professor at CRAN.
